True Christians

well, if you define a "true christian" and someone that agrees with the teachings of jesus and tries to live thier life like him, then there are many of them. and ironically, many of whom that either do not call themselves christians, or are not called christians, even by other people that do call themselves that.

if you're defintion is someone that follows the bible as being 100% true and does all the things that it says to do, then there are very few people that fit the bill, but i'd say that those people that protest agaisnt fuenrals and say that god hates gays are probably the closest, because they are preaching that everyone should be a "christian" and that everyone who isn't is going to hell, which is what the bible says.

Unless I'm mistaken, hell is not mentioned in the Bible itself.

I'm not positive, but I think that it's mostly alluded to. While it's true that most people's percpetions of hell come from non-biblical, and often non-religious doctrinal sources, the concept is still bible based, and stands out in the few passages that mention it in specific terms. However, don't mistake that to mean that it's the exception rather than the rule, because the rest of the bible is filled with stuff that god says not to do, and things that are expressely forbidden by god, and that god punishes people for. So I mean, take that as what you want, that God is the primary source of retribution rather than satan. But it really can't be argued that damnation, sin and punishment aren't aspects of christianity if you have a literal (as opposed to a metaphorically) interpretation of the bible.

Here the answer to what a true Christian is by the ultimate authority on this subject. Pope Benedict XVI recently stated that other Christian denominations are not true churches. He reasserted the primacy of the Roman Catholic Church by approving a document that says other Christian communities are either defective or not true churches and Catholicism provides the only true path to salvation.

Are you ready for a new round of religionist wars in Europe over transubstantiation?

Hell is mentioned in the bible in the new testament and near the end of it. The old testament does not refer to hell.

There are actually many things that are considered corner stones in the Christian religion as being sins that aren't even mentioned in the bible. But that would then bring up the topic of ignorance, fear, and hostility to those who are different.

The idea that by worshiping someone/thing that tells you that people who don't believe in them will be punished or should be will bring peace to the world is a strange one and is something not localized to any one religion

The problem with judging people now on how they live there life in accordance to the bible is that the version of the bible that we read today is a greatly interpreted version.

When comparing a new copy of the bible to the oldest copy on record, it quickly becomes obvious that it has been rewritten and reinterpreted over time.

Its like a story that is past down from generation to generation. The last person to tell the story will tell it different from the first and it may not have the same meaning anymore.

Well he was a member of the young Nazi party. I find it interesting that as soon as he was seated as pope he began passing judgment on everyone. As I stated before, the supposed idea behind most religions is peace

It's tough. You have to be able to do stuff that contradicts other stuff in the bible.

Well I think there are alot of Christians, but very few TRUE Christians. I once worked for a ' born again' Christian and he was the biggest back stabbing arogant, greedy person I have ever met. He made fun of less fortuneate people and mocked the downtroden. He strutted around the work place like his shit didn't stink. Funny thing everything seemed to go his way, he was the luckiest bastard I ever met. He was a horrible person, he was hated in the work place, but seemed to have respect from people in power with in the city, he had a beautiful wife and a nice family, a large home, three car garage and a cottage at the lake. He talked the talk as far as being a Christian, but he sure as fuck didn't walk the walk. On the other hand I have met some True Christians, the type of people who would give you the shirt of their back if you were cold,,, or thier last bit of food if you were hungry. Funny thing with the True Christian people I have met,,,,,, they didn't judge others and they were always the first to help, very genuine trustworthy individuals,,,, I never heard them talk about God,,,,, they kept thier beliefs private. One thing for sure just because you 'SAY' you subsribe to a certain belief system, it doesn't nessessarlly make you 'good'

I appreciate your quaint traditions and superstitions I on the other hand am a evolved being who deals solely with the sauce of life which is in all of are harts that middle man thing is wacky and I appreciate it, got to run there’s a voice a calling me.

Religion = Wars, Poverty. It should be banished of the face of earth

Why do people wear crosses. Do ya think when jesus comes back hes gonna wanna a see a frickin cross

I've read half of the 1st book of Nephi. Does that count?

The question about this thread is impossible to answer. There is no way a "true" Christian can be identified in a technical way apart form a "non-true" Christian other than on the basis of the subjective opinions of the people making it. It's like trying to get a fact out of something that is subjective that you yourself further think about in your own subjective way.

Chritianity is like Communism - It can't be done because Humans are not like that. If I could love my enemies, they wouldn't be my enemies.

You misunderstand the principle message of Christ.
